The Superintendent shared information about the City of Paso Robles’ Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, which the District collaborates on annually. Paso Robles High School students and staff will participate, including the PRHS Choir, which will perform Lift Every Voice & Sing, and students from the Black Student Union, who will take part in a Day of Service activity.
The event begins at 9:00 AM, with the service project starting at 10:00 AM. Paso Schools families of all ages are invited to attend and participate.

PRHS Interim Principal Mike Susank provided an update on Paso Robles High School, highlighting academic milestones, student leadership, and extracurricular achievements.
Key highlights included:
- Launch of 2026–27 course registration and the upcoming Bearcat 101 event
- Visual and Performing Arts accomplishments, including student artwork displayed locally, the recent winter concert featuring PRHS Forte Choir, Band, and Jazz Band, the upcoming production of Seussical Kids (opens February 5th and plays in front of 1000 PRJUSD Elementary students over the course of its run in February), the upcoming annual dance show on March 5-7, and production of the upcoming musical, High School Musical on April 17-26.
- Continued growth in CTE pathways, including a new Cosmetology pathway opening in fall 2026
- Updates on athletics, agriculture programs, and student leadership.

The Board approved multiple Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) purchases, supporting arts education across grade levels.
Approved items included:

Prop 28-funded VAPA equipment purchases at PRHS, including musical instruments and equipment to support the growing band, choir, and theater programs.

Instrument purchases for Lewis Flamson Junior High and Georgia Brown Dual Immersion School, ensuring continued access to quality music education districtwide.
These investments align with state funding requirements and the District’s commitment to expanding and enhancing arts programs.

The Board is moving forward with community bond polling to assess voter support and guide long-term facilities planning.
As presented:
- Bond approval threshold: 55% voter approval required at the ballot
Polling will help refine project priorities, tax rate sensitivity, and potential ballot language ahead of any future bond election.
Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Brad Pawlowski, emphasized that polling is an informational step only, intended to guide decision-making and ensure transparency with the community.

The Board was presented with recommended instructional materials for Paso Robles High School courses, including Infant and Toddler Care, AP Literature, and Cosmetology I. As required, these materials are available for public review for a 30-day period, from January 14 through February 6, 2026.
The recommendations will return to the Board for consideration as an action item at a future meeting following the public viewing period.

The Board accepted several notable donations totaling more than $17,000, including:

Educational Employees Credit Union is donating $16,000 in support of PRJUSD’s employee of the year event, retirement breakfast, and employee incentives.
- The SLO Ag Education Committee is donating $300 in support of PRHS FFA.
- The Blackbaud Giving Fund is donating $420 in support of Cross Country and Leadership at Paso Robles High School.Â

Ludus Technologies Inc. is donating $193.30 in support of PRHS Drama.

Oaks Independent Insurance Solutions is donating $500 in support of GATE at LFJH.

Albert Charles Paulsen is donating $100 in support of GATE at LFJH.

The Board received a first reading of proposed Board policy updates, part of the District’s regular policy review cycle to ensure alignment with current law, best practices, and district priorities.
The updates were presented for information and discussion only and will return to the Board for a second reading and adoption at a future meeting.
