Dear Families,
It may only be the third week of 2026, but preparation is well under way for the 2026–2027 school year. Our TK and Kindergarten Enrollment Parent Night is right around the corner, 6th and 8th graders are gearing up for their transitions to junior high and high school, course registration is on the minds of our Bearcats, and we are less than 150 days away from celebrating the graduating Class of 2026.
Whether this is your first time with a student in Paso Schools, or you’ve stewarded a dozen children through these precious years, these milestones can elicit many feelings—excitement, hopefulness, anxiety, joy, even grief, wondering where the time has gone. Whoever coined the phrase “the days are long, but the years are short” must have had parenthood in mind.
As we look ahead to what’s next, please know that you don’t have to navigate these transitions alone. Many members of the PRJUSD staff are parents ourselves, or have raised children through Paso Schools, and we understand how full this season can feel. Wherever your family finds itself right now, our staff is here to support your students—and you—every step of the way. Thank you for the trust you place in Paso Schools as we continue this journey together.

Parents and staff are invited to attend the next LCAP Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting Thursday, January 15 at 5:00 PM in the District Office Board Room.
There will be childcare, snacks and English-Spanish translation.
While the Parent Advisory Committee members are the official members who provide specific input directly to the Superintendent in time for Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) completion and approval, all parents and staff are invited to participate in the meetings and discussions.
As well, later this month, all parents, staff and students in grades 4+ will be invited to take a survey providing input on how we might best spend important LCAP (and federal) funds in support of meeting the objectives of our LCAP and Strategic Plan, which ultimately support students on their path to feeling valued, empowered and ready to thrive.
