Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

What is the meaning of gifted?...the term gifted and talented children means children and whenever applicable, youth who are identified at the preschool, elementary, or secondary level as possessing demonstrated or potential abilities that give evidence of high performance in capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, specific academic, or leadership ability, or in the performing arts (visual) and who by reason thereof require service or activities not ordinarily provided by the school.

Paso Robles Joint Unified School Districts' Gifted and Talented Program (G.A.T.E.) is designed to assist gifted and talented students to reach their full potential by addressing their unique needs.  Key program goals for identified students are:

  • Provide students with opportunities to receive differentiated instruction

  • Provide students with opportunities for depth and breadth of subject matter curriculum

  • Provide opportunities for students to be recognized for outstanding work

  • Provide opportunities to develop and apply complex thinking skills
