10th & 11th Grade High School AVID Students Visit San Jose and Santa Clara University

AVID students took a second trip of the school year on March 6. The trip started at 7:30 in the morning and loaded over 40 students to head to Santa Clara University. They were met there by two college students that talked about some of the programs offered at the university. The tour started by splitting the group into two and guided us through the beautiful campus of Santa Clara (a Private University about 2.5 hours away). During the tour, students asked questions about campus life and available majors. The students then loaded back on the character bus and ate at San Jose State.

Once at San Jose State, students were able to eat in the common area alongside college students. There they had a chance to explain the book student and student life center before their guided tour started. We were one big group of future college students being guided through the big campus of San Jose State University. Students were able to hear about the awesome programs available at the University and got all their questions answered. Once the tour was done, everyone headed back to the bus and arrived home close to 6:30 p.m.

Our AVID students said they enjoyed the trip, and some of them are now inspired to apply to the two universities they got a chance to see that day.
