Career Signing Day
Save the Date: Career Signing Day 2019: May 8, 2019
The familiar high school rituals take place every spring. Athletes sign letters of intent to play for college programs as their coaches beam with pride, the photographs splashed across social media. Other high school seniors wave college acceptance letters as their names are announced at school assemblies.
Paso Robles Joint Unified School District also wants to celebrate a different life-changing moment for the seniors who were starting careers right after graduation. We will be holding our "Career Signing Day," on May 8, 2:30pm at the Performing Arts Center at Paso Robles High School.
"This is a celebration of students who are entering the workforce or post-secondary training with a plan," said Gaviola, Deputy Superintendent in charge of Career Technical Education. "They’ve chosen to maximize their high school opportunities for career training and industry certifications, with an eye on becoming successful and financially secure earlier in life."
The goal of this event will be to have both students and representatives from their future places of employment sign letters outlining what they would do before and during employment, as well as what training and compensatory benefits the employer would provide, and an estimate of the position's overall value. This event will come directly after our state competition in Skills USA where we have over 100 students competing in career based skills with the goal of qualifying for Nationals.
