Joseph Vaughn

Director of Food Service

Joseph Vaughn is the new Director of Food Service for the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District. Joseph has been a school Food Service Director for 22 years and was most recently the Director for the Los Angeles Unified School District.

During his 22- year tenure, Joseph has garnered national recognition due to his ability to increase meal participation and turn around food service programs that were struggling financially.  Before taking over in Los Angeles, Joseph was the Executive Director of Food and Nutrition Services for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in Ohio where he is credited with turning around a food service program which was losing $3 million dollars per year.  While working at LAUSD, Joseph is credited with implementing a variety of new programs such as the Hot Supper Meals program which generated millions of dollars in additional revenue. The increase in meal participation along with a variety of cost control measures helped the district climb out of a $50 million- dollar deficit.

Joseph is quick to point out that he has always been surrounded by staff members who are willing to go above and beyond in order to provide the quality and service that students deserve. Joseph says that he is extremely pleased to be the new Director here at Paso Robles and is confident that he has the team in place to help Paso Robles become one of the best food programs in central California.

Joseph has a BS degree in Accounting from Newberry College in South Carolina and a M.Ed degree in Education from Post University in Connecticut. He has been married to Pamela Kirkland Vaughn for 32 years (a retired school teacher) and has 2 children. His daughter is a graduate of Loyola Law School and resides in Pasadena, and his son is a graduate of UAB School of Dentistry and is living in Seattle.

Adam White

Culinary Arts Specialist

Growing up in rainy Portland, Oregon, Chef Adam White used that indoor time to discover cooking. Wrestling in high school and an outdoor lifestyle naturally led Adam to food that was both healthy and fulfilling. That passion for health and flavor guided Adam in his culinary career, choosing to work at restaurants and institutions following the same philosophy.

Chef White attended Oregon State University and has over 25 years in the hospitality industry. In Oregon, worked for Big River Restaurant in Corvallis, The Black Rabbit restaurant in Troutdale, and the Rheinlander in Portland, where managed operations and refined his technique. Moving to the healthcare sector gave Chef White room to blend his love of food with the nutritional big picture. At a large hospital in Portland, Oregon, and later as Executive Chef on the Central Coast of California, community well-being and healthcare remained central.

Adam has been victorious two years running at Templeton’s Wellness Kitchen “Top Chef” competition. He has been featured on KSBY’s “Foodie Friday,” and in several local publications. Adam and his wife, Katie, have two young daughters and love the Central Coast life: camping, biking, finding new restaurants, and the occasional family wrestling match.
