A Message from our Superintendent

  • Welcome to the start of the 2017-18 school year!  The start of a new school year is always an exciting time, not only for students, but for our entire Paso Robles community.  It is my pleasure to welcome the students, families, and staff of Paso Robles Joint Unified School District back to school, ready to continue the important work of creating a world class district.

On August 21, the school year begins with just over 6800 students in preschool through 12th grade and 800 staff members.  Our belief is that every student will have success.  We are proud to be the district of excellence and are excited to dig deeper into initiatives that we have already begun:  Expanding the one to one Chrome Books into our high schools this fall, keyboarding and piano for every third grader, increase of dual enrollment courses with Cuesta College, continuing effort on students’ individual educational needs through our multi-tiered systems of support, and providing educational opportunities for our parents.  We will continue to expand communication with our parents by launching a new district app that will provide access to information with just one touch (Aeries, overdue library books, lunch balances, bus passes, etc.).  We will also be sustaining all of the exemplary programs that were previously implemented including a rigorous academic core program, visual and performing arts, athletics, gifted and talented programs, dual immersion, all-day kindergarten, and after school support programs including a newly-developed VAPA plan.

The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District also continues its’ focus on ensuring our facilities meet our student needs through the passage of Measure M and each individualized school safety plan.  We will continue to ensure the district is fiscally responsible and are proud to say we have improved our credit rating for the second time in the last two years and are increasing revenue streams while aligning expenditures to student needs as evidenced through our solar energy projects.

Our staff continues their unparalleled commitment to student success and student achievement and are looking forward to a great 2017-18 school year.  Please take a moment to visit our website www.pasoschools.org and be sure to subscribe to our weekly district newsletter “The Vine”.

    Sincerely,

    Chris Williams
