Under Proposition 98, an initiative passed in November 1988, and under guidelines under No Child Left Behind (NCLB) California schools are required to prepare an annual School Accountability Report Card assessing school conditions. The objective is to inform the local school community about conditions and progress being made at the local school site. The report card is issues annually for each elementary and secondary school in the state.
