Volunteer Opportunities

For any fundraiser or special project to be a success we need a network of people who would be willing to participate behind the scenes. We hope that every family will sign up to help in at least one category.

 ____Volunteer coordinator: This person is very important if we are going to efficiently utilize our volunteers. You will be responsible for contacting room mothers and other volunteers.

 ____Jog-A-Thon: Help coordinate schedules, publicity, and prizes.

 ____Room Parent: You will volunteer in the classroom on a regular basis or for special events. You will be trained in using workroom equipment. 

____Volunteer Teacher’s Assistant: You will be trained to help teachers by working with small groups under the teacher’s direction. You may choose the subjects and grades you would like to help with.

 ____Tee-shirt Sales: Help sell and distribute Panda Wear.

 ____Panda Spirit: Assist with handing out candy on Fridays during lunch recess to students showing their Panda Pride.  Assist with taking care of the Panda costumes and coordinate students to be Peterson Panda on Fridays, etc.

 ____Peterson Panda: For students only! Play the part of Peterson Panda on Fridays, etc.

 ____Family Fun Night Coordinator: Organize family fun nights at restaurants and school.

 ____Family Portrait Day: Help with publicity and scheduling portrait sitting times.

 ____Reflections Committee: Help to coordinate the Reflections Program. This is an opportunity for students to enter art in many different mediums and compete at a local, state, and national level.

____Library Helpers: Assist the librarian in the Library.

 ____Grant Writer: We really do want to get a grant writing committee started. WE WILL CALL .

 ____Membership: Help with membership drive, lists, and sending out membership cards.

 ____Translator: Verbal translation from English to Spanish at school programs.

 ____Translator: Translate documents such as flyers and PTA information from English to Spanish.

 ____Pioneer Living History: Help students with hands on activities such as gold panning, spinning, etc

In a survey sent out to the teachers at the end of the year, 100% (of those returned) indicated that they would like to have more money for field trips.  

READ –A-THON

This is a great incentive to get the kids reading.  

FINE ARTS

Art, Music, Plays, etc: Last year $400 was budgeted for fine arts. At the end of the year we spent an additional $2,500 of surplus funds.  

ASSEMBLIES

Our first assembly will be Living Pioneer History. A hands on program that the teachers and students love. ($800)  

5th GRADE PROMOTION

$800 ($800)

5th grade students celebrate their advancement to middle school.  

DARE 4TH & 5TH GRADE

$650 ($650)

Drug Abuse Resistance Program, help keep kids off drugs.  

PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT

$700 ($700)

Each year we have to purchase new equipment such as balls, jump ropes, football flags, etc.  

GARDEN

$500 ($500)

 

$1 per student is given to the school garden to purchase, plants, seeds, and equipment.  

STAFF APPRECIATION

$500 ($450)

This is a luncheon where we show our appreciation to teachers and other school staff.  

AGRICULTURE DAY

$250 ($150)

Volunteers from the area donate their time and skill to teach students about local agriculture.  

SCIENCE CONVENTION

$250 ($250)

Provides award ribbons for the science convention.  

Treasure Chest

$200 ($150)

Principle’s treasure. Teachers send a student to the Treasure chest to receive a prize.  

OPERATING COSTS

$3,000

Office supplies, copies, insurance, State Convention, welcome back teachers, childcare, start up for next year, etc.  
This form is sent home each semester so that parent's can support our school through out the year.
