Taking students to visit the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) at Stanford University is always exciting. However, on one visit there, while having lunch in their cafeteria, one of the scientists, by the name of Dr. Martin Perl, struck up a friendly conversation with the students. The next day it was announced that Dr. Perl was that year's Noble Prize Winner in Physics. A few month's later Mr. Kliewer was asked to make a presentation at SLAC about his cosmic ray work. He was even more pleased when he realized that he would be sharing the podium with Dr. Perl. Perl.pdf
