Kermit King Elementary is looking for members to serve on School Site Council and ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committe).

A note will be going home with your child on Monday, August 31st asking if you are interested in being involved in SSC or ELAC. If you are interested, please return those notes to the school office by September 4th.


  • Work as a team with other advisory group representatives to develop the School Development and Improvement Plan (also known as Single Plan for Student Achievement).

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the School Development and Improvement Plan.

  • Annually review and revise the plan and proposed expenditures of categorical funds.  

  • Regularly attend scheduled SSC meetings.  

A MAJOR FUNCTION OF English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) – The purpose of the ELAC is to advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners.

PBIS- Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports

PBIS is a framework or approach comprised of intervention practices and organizational systems for establishing positive social culture, learning and teacher environments, and individual behavior supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.

VAPA- Visual and Performing Arts for Every Child

Every year every student will be provided with opportunities to develop aesthetic valuing through visual and performing arts and extracurricular activities.
